JumpStarting STEM Initiative is Well Underway
- 17 programs from all 11 regions in CA are actively participating in the initiative. These programs represent over 250 sites!
- An annual calendar fro curriculum and training has been established with all 17 programs.
- Curriculum chosen for implementation in the JumpStarting STEM pilot includes KidzScience; KidzMath;
- Project WET, Wild & Learning Tree; Techbridge; TechXcite (a pilot curriculum from Duke University); NASA From Out-of-School to Outer Space and Space School Musical; 4H Junk Drawer Robotics; Fantasy Baseball; and CenterStage Math.
- To date, twenty trainings have been provided to all of the 17 JumpStarting STEM programs. More than 300 staff has been trained in over 200 sites by the Network Professional Development team, and Network partners (including Duke University, NASA, Discovery Science Center, and Center Stage).
- As of January 2012, all 17 JumpStarting STEM programs have received professional development and are currently implementing STEM programming once or twice per week.
- Virtual Professional Development Experiences have been offered to Program Directors and site-level staff will participate in two virtual learning opportunities.
