Brief Description: NASA's Jet Propulsion Labratory has developed a curriculum on Saturn the Jewel of the Solar System. It is desinged to spark curiosity and facilitate understanding of Saturn, its rings, the moon Titan, and the Cassini-Huygns robotic mission.  The youth-centered activities encourage them to think like scientists & engineers, understand the engineering process as well as model construction.

STEM Subject: Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology
Other Subject: Language Arts, Creative Arts, History, Career Exploration,
Grades: 4 - 5
Student participants: Up to groups of 30
Format: Facilitator’s Guides with 8 activities; 22 distinct 40 minute sessions; 15 hours of programming.

Description: This set of three program guides have been adapted by NASA from their formal curriculum to be used in out-of-school time settings. There are three themes: Jewel of the Solar System (try-on science through language and creative arts learning about the planet Saturn); Exploring the Solar System (hands-on science and engineering activities); and Unlocking the Mysteries (a project-based activity to design a robotic space mission).  All activities are low- or no-cost and are written to increase educators' comfort level with delivering and facilitating space-related content.

The curriculum is not online yet, but will be available in late summer. There are no current workshops available to specifically support this program. However, there are regular workshops and professional development opportunities available at NASA/JPL on a variety of astronomical-related topics.
